Simultaneous interpreting requires sound-proof booths, that meet ISO standards as well as appropriate equipment (headphones, microphones). The booths are either permanent booths built into the conference room or hired mobile booths that are set up especially for the event.
ISO Standards: Booths for simultaneous interpretation
ISO has published in 2016 a new version of these two standards :
ISO 2603:2016 > Permanent booths
ISO 4043:2016 > Mobile booths
as well as these two new ones:
ISO 20109:2016 > Equipment
ISO 20108:2017 > Quality and transmission of sound and image input
